by hence known as “Chamunda”.
Meri Maiya Chamundadevi Mandir is seven hundred years old; build by Meri Maiya bhakt (still unknown) from the village, who was asked by Meri Maiya Herself in his dream to fetch the idol across Ban Ganga and place it in the temple over "Holy Meri Maiya Pindi" and worship HER.
Meri Maiya Mandir is a holy shrine of 'Shiva and Shakti' and is known as 'Chamunda Nandikeshwar Dham'. Meri Maiya Mandir is a seat of spirituality since ancient times and is situated on the bank of Ban-Ganga. Meri Maiya Mandir is surrounded by natural beauty, peace and bliss and as such a natural refuge for saints and meditators since time immemorial.

This in only Meri Maiya Mandir where Meri Maiya Puja and Cremation of Dead body is done at the same place. Here the great Lord 'Ashutosh Shiv Shankar' in the form of death, destruction and devourer is sitting with Meri Maiya Chamundadevi. Ancestoral worship (Shradha Ceremony) is also performed here. After taking a dip in Ban Ganga it is auspicious to listen or recite 'Shat Chandi' Path (Hymns).

Cause of Establishment:
The former ruler of mandor relinquished his state and rule of Mandor in favour of Bhate Rao . Rao Jodha was acutely aware of the miraculous and mystic powers of Mother Chamunda and he wanted to enshrine her idol at the Chief shrine of Mehran Garh.With a view to this the idol was shifted from Mandor to Mehran Garh and it was ceremoniously installed there .

Brief of the Diety:

Mother Godess Chamunda in the sanctum Sanctorum, the idol of Chamunda in black stone is installed. Other idols there are of Kalika and Bech Rai Ji. Though the Rathore Rajputs have goddess Nagnechyaji as their Clan goddess but Chamunda as well rules every Rathor’s heart, Rao Takhta Singh renovated this temple in the Vikram Samvat 1914.

Sanatan sect of Hindus In the south –west quarter of the city of Jodhpur there is a hill on the top of which stands this temple. This is made of stone.

Architecture of the Temple:

facing .A long mouth the idol of Ganesh there are two idols of Riddhi and Siddhi. Ganesh means the Lord of the Ganas or troops of inferior deities attending upon Shiva. Lord Ganesh is the Son of Shiva and Paravti .He is the god of wisdom and remover of obstacles. Riddhi means prosperity and Siddhi means accomplishment.

Religious aspects of temple:

People of all castes and creeds , young and old men and women visit this temple to have a darshan of Chamunda Mata . People strongly believe that Chamunda is their guarding deity. They also make a wish and tie a piece of cloth or some some sutra to the trident. When the wish is fulfilled they revisit the shrine to express their obligation .

Festivals & Fairs in Temple (Main Events):

The two Navaratras (Nine sacred days for ritualistic performances) are held in Ashwin and Chaitra month. In addition to them two secret Navaratras (Gupta Navaratras) are had in Ashdha and Pausha.Every year on the thirteenth day of the bright half of Bhadra Pad month, great celebration is held to commemorate the renovation day of the shrine.

Custom & Traditions of Temple:

Devotees of all castes and ethnic groups offer flowers Sweets, Coconuts, and cash on the shrine to propitiate Their patron Goddess. In the Navaratras of Chaitra and Ashwin, Special performances worship readings of sapatashati and Japa of mystic mantras are held.

The prayers do not differ from those of Vaishnava sect. Therefore, the Ramanandi and the Vaishnava sects are almost identical, so far as Pooja is concerned.

Presently the temple is being maintained under the aegis of Maharaja Ummaid Singh. Religious trust Jodhpur. This trust looks after with loving care this holy shrine of Chamunda Ji.
